DIGITIZED WORKS OF EMILIJAN JOSIMOVIĆ

Žarko Mijajlović and Nadežda Pejović

Keywords: Emilijan Josimović, digitized works, XIX century.

Abstract
In this paper we present digitized works of Emilijan Josimović, a respectable 19th century Serbian architect, engineer and professor of mathematics. He is considered as a first Serbian urbanist and in the mid of the sixties of the XIX century he gave a plan pursuant to which the center of Belgrade is reconstructed. He also was the university professor of mathematics, rector of the Grand School, the forerunner of the Belgrade university. He wrote first Serbian university books in mathematics and architecture. It interesting that the books he wrote in the fifties of the XIX century were written in the old-Serbian language and script. His later books were written in modern Serbian in accordance of Vuk Karadžić reform. We digitized six his works, four textbooks in mathematics, one textbook in physics and the proposal of the regulation plan of the city of Belgrade. The printed copies of these books belong to Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts. Their digital copies are deposited in the Virtual Library of the Faculty of mathematics, elibrary.matf.bg.ac.rs.

ŽIČKI BLAGOVESNIK (ŽIČA MONASTERY HERALD OF ANNUNCIATION)

Ana Voštinić

Keywords. Žički Blagovesnik, Eparchy of Žiča, library, local history department, digitization

Abstract
Abstract. In search for the best solution in the last ten years (in some libraries even longer than that), the process of digitization has established itself as currently the best among the widely available methods for storing the material. It has also instituted itself as an integral part of everyday work, primarily in relation to local history collections. The local history department of the Kraljevo City Library “Stefan Prvovencani” boasts a varied collection of local periodicals, giving a detailed insight into the city and its people’s eventful history. Local newspapers and magazines have established themselves as the most important source of information for (not only) local researchers - pupils, students, scientists, thus becoming a priority in the digitization process.
“Žički Blagovesnik” belongs among the most important and most challenging publishing tasks of its kind in many ways. It is a publication of the Serbian Orthodox Church, which was issued on the territory of the Eparchy of Žiča in the period from 1939 to 1941, only to see its publication renewed after a long break in 1997. This paper reviews the old issues (before the World War II) of “Žički Blagovesnik”, with a particular focus on the short history and dynamic of its publication, the structure of the magazine, but also the digitization process it was subjected to, in order to not only protect it, but also make it available to a much wider audience than ever before.

TOPOTHEQUES AS A BRIDGE BETWEEN THE NATIONAL AND CITIZENS` ARCHIVES: THE PILOT PROJECT OF THE TOPOTHEQUE NORTH BACHKA

Aleksandar Raič and Zvonko Stantić

Keywords. topotheque, digitization, archives, storing, protecting original documents, cooperation with citizens, strengthening of local communities, democratization of access, the project topotheque North Bachka.

Abstract
The archive material, that can be stored and displayed in digital form, belongs to the mobile cultural heritage. Digitization makes the basic process in conservation and restoration of nonmovable cultural heritage, indirect and fixed, if the digitized documents are related to certain nonmovable cultural monuments. Topotheques are a network of checkpoints developed first in Austria, under the authority of the city archives, in order to make the collection and enable the processing of digital archival materials, photos, audio and video recordings that belong to the citizens, and on the personal initiative of the owner. The project topotheque North Bachka is an initial attempt to create such a network of private-public institutions in Vojvodina and Serbia.

DIGITIZING THE ARCHIVE OF STUDENT SERVICES OF THE FACULTY OF MATHEMATICS

Biljana Stojanović

Keywords. Archive, Student Services, Digitizing, Scanning, Searching, StudInfo.

Abstract
The project of “Digitizing the Archive of Student Services of the Faculty of Mathematics” was initiated in 2004 with the aim of converting the old archive materials to electronic form with the ability to search and print data. In the middle of 2016 there was no significant progress in the work, and the main reason was the lack of human resources. The plan is to reactivate and complete the project, and connect it with the existing information system of student services, StudInfo. This paper presents a brief overview of the content of the archive and describes the necessary steps for the digitizing of archive documentation, storing and organizing documents in the appropriate database that can be searched according to relevant criteria.

PROSPECTIVE AUTOMATED HIERARCHICAL CLASSIFICATION OF DIGITIZED DOCUMENTS

Jovana Kovačević and Jelena Graovac

Keywords. Hierarchical text classification, Structured Support Vector Machine Method, n-grams, Ebart

Abstract
The paper presents a proposal of a method for hierarchical classification of digitized documents of NCD digital library. The classification model implements Structured Support Vector Machine method (SSVM) which has shown excellent performance on Ebart corpus of documents in Serbian language. We describe the developed model and its results on Ebart dataset, suggest two types of hierarchies of classes of the NCD library regarding its content and define a protocol for the application of the method to digitized documents.
